2007-2010 Cohort
Project Title:  "The Impact of Specialty Hospitals on Delivery of Care to Financially Vulnerable Populations"

About the Project:

Dr. Cram’s Physician Faculty Scholars Program project was entitled "The Impact of Specialty Hospitals on Delivery of Care to Financially Vulnerable Populations."  In this work he used a mixed-methods approach to examine how specialty hospitals impacted the delivery of care to underinsured populations and minorities.  Among other things, these studies demonstrated that specialty hospitals tended not to compete directly with general hospitals and that specialty hospitals often obtained better insured patients by locating in wealthy suburban neighborhoods.
